You will NOT believe what has happened to our family this week! Let me start from the beginning. We went to church on Wednesday night, just like always for the weekly fellowship dinner and prayer meeting. I love going because I get to eat all that I want AND see my friends. Plus, this week, I will get two more stars for saying my memory verses. I am almost finished with my requirements for my “Tabitha” badge. Yea! Anyway, I played in the front yard of the church, afterwards, while mom talked to her girl friends. Then she called my brother, sisters and I to the car. It was time to go.
When we got home it was dark, as usual. Mom stopped at the door, as we were walking in. I couldn’t see why. Someone had been in our home. I was scared at first, but mom said that we could go inside. The living room certainly looked different than when we’d left. The Christmas tree that we decorated last week was still there. Except now, there were presents under it…and more all over the room! Mom said that she did not know where they came from. I am pretty sure that she was telling the truth because her eyes were all teary and she looked away and went out of the room for a few minutes. So, we (my brother and sisters) had to check out these gifts. I found my name on at least THREE of them! I wonder what is inside of these boxes. Maybe a new dress like the ones I see at school. Or paints or a book? I love to read and make pictures. Who would come into my house and leave presents? This has never happened to us before!
This is all very exciting! But there’s one more thing I have to tell. Whoever came in with Christmas presents also left with our laundry. Our washer has been broken for a while, and there are a lot of off us in this house. Someone must really care about us to take all those dirty clothes away and bring them back all clean and folded! Mom stood there for a while when she saw the clean clothes. Maybe she is wondering who cares so much about us, too.
Yesterday, I heard mom talking on the phone. She said that God must’ve told someone that she didn’t have any money for Christmas presents for us this year. I didn’t know that. I guess He told them about our broken washer too. I didn’t know that God cared about little stuff like laundry. I know what it is like to go without sometimes, as our family doesn’t have as much money as other families. I guess that mom would’ve helped us to have a good Christmas even without gifts. She makes our life pretty fun. I am thankful that God cares about me and my mom and my brother and sisters. He did not have to do such nice things for us. But I’m glad He did.
