Christmas Without A Card
We stand in awe of the Christmas tree we sing carols and walk the streets gazing at the wonderful lights. The holiday cheer is all around us as we take time to reflect on how giving is better than receiving. The children laugh and write their Christmas list. Moms and grandmas bake cookies and listen to their favorite holiday tunes. I say those are all wonderful things but what about the Christmas card. Yes the Christmas card can be overlooked and underappreciated with everything else that is going on. I mean who really takes the time to read that Christmas card that just seems to be getting in the way of that big shinning gift that has been so delicately wrapped and prepared only to be shredded in a matter of seconds. Sure a gift can bring some temporal satisfaction but the feeling I get when I first take the time to read the card and take in the message makes opening that gift just a bit more personal. It gives me time to enjoy what I am receiving it’s the small things that make the difference in life. So this Christmas I challenge all to take time read that Christmas Card because there might be more treasure in the message than the gift.
