Previous Challenge Entry (Level 1 – Beginner)
Topic: Beach (07/04/05)
One evening while walking and worshipping God on the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach – I came across a section where the boards were extremely rough. When I started praying about it – God gave me a revelation that struck a cord in me. He showed me a new reality about living our lives in the Spirit.

Those “nailed” down boards were ones that over time will wear out and need replaced, unless, someone maintains them. The ones I was walking on were in very rough shape, I was glad to have shoes on for the rough edges may have hurt my feet and cause damaged to me.

However, driftwood on the other hand is allowed to flow free in the water. The salt and others things in the water smooth the edges of the wood – making it the wood both beautiful and smooth.

We as Christians can chose which type of wood we want to be like. The nailed down ones needed maintained – constantly looking at others to maintain themselves. Others would be the pastor, the Sunday school teacher, or even their friends. If left on their own too long they will get some rough edges that may hurt others.

Or we can be like the driftwood – walking in the Holy Spirit and allowing Him to smooth our rough edges, making us more and more like Jesus Christ. These are the ones that have learned to eat the solid food of the Word of God. Allowing the Holy Spirit and the Word of God to develop their character and who they are in Christ – just as the driftwood becomes “new” – we too are to become a new creature in Christ. Flowing in God’s Holy Spirit will allows us to do just that!

What a wonderful revelation. I will remember this in my daily walk with Christ, and in my relationship with those I worship with. I have a better understanding of of a matter that I just encountered; Thank you for sharing this with us.

Interesting analogy. I have some driftwood my parents collected from the Pacific coast long ago in the 60's - smooth, well worn, traveled, unique.

I made a note to myself to come back and comment on this piece. Very good insight on drftwood and board left alone. Just make sure after you write the selection to review it for grammar and spellings.

Good analogy. When God gives us a revelation, He allows us to use it for our benefit and the benefit of others and your sharing this experience with us adds to our faith.
