They tell me that life is a game
And its focus is fortune or fame.
Some win and some lose;
but you don’t get to choose.
Just keep striving for MORE, that’s your aim.
I don’t like this game they call life,
It seems full of anguish and strife.
Choose your own slipp’ry slope
then dead end with no hope;
No wonder depression is rife!
‘Life’s just a game’ people say
When they want do things their own way.
But what if the rules
are made up by fools,
And death is the price you will pay?
Would you rather a different game?
Where everyone’s chance was the same?
You may win or may lose
But you DO get to choose:
To receive or reject Him who came.
Let’s play God’s game, it’s more fun,
‘cause the victory is already won.
Although we’re all sinners
We still can be winners
By accepting the gift of His Son.
God’s game is not easily played.
Life might be tough and not staid.
But all through His Word
His promise is heard
“I am with you. Do not be afraid.”
You ask ‘what’s the prize in this game?’
It’s much better than fortune or fame.
Pain and grief gone forever
And no matter how clever
The pure joy of learning His name.
