Although his brown cloak and his head gear shielded him from the sun, he was sweating profusely.
Waiting upon God to speak to him as "He" had spoken to Abraham, the man fasted and prayed letting God's will be done.
Forty days and nights came and gone. His stomach felt like he had ate a stone; his throat felt like he had swallowed sand.
The words "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased,"echoed in his spirit.(Matthew 3:17)
The man heard a voice beconning him to come. The voice belonged to a man who appear to be polite, but with a discerning spirit, the man in the cloak recognized the deceptive beast.
The beast began "I bet you are hungry, I dare you to transform these stones into bread. If you are the Son of Man. Do it! Don't die on my account."
The man's stomach grumbled and he felt light headed, but he protested.
"I tell you the truth man doesn't live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God." (Matthew 4:4)
The beast grumbled, "Since you insist on going hungry, let me show you something."
The beast took the man to the highest part of the temple and dared him to throw himself down.
"If you are the Son of God," exclaimed the beast,"surely God will send the angels to catch you."
The man declared "I tell the truth, do not test God."
Again the beast took the man up high and showed him worldly kingdoms.
"I'll give it all to you, if you dare to worship me," said the beast.
The man became angry, but he did not sin; it wasn't in his nature.
"Get away from me Satan," said the man. "I was put here to worship only God."
Satan left the man; peace entered the desert and a group of angels ministered to the man and Savior known as Jesus.
Jesus performed many miracles and was sent to the cross. His truth paid for a multitude of sins. Look upon the heavenly menu, an
a la carte or a complete course, there is one price. Jesus payed all by the blood he shed on the cross.
