Topic: Truth or Dare (08/28/08)
One moment is all we are given. One opportunity to speak words that are left unspoken. Once that moment is gone we will never get it back.

I live with regret, words never formed or completed and thoughts never made known.

By definition my name means “One who speaks the truth”. I do my best to live by this. I am not an extraordinary person by any means, rather an ordinary one who tries to live for Christ but on her best days is still found living in dirty rags of sin.

Truth is a state of being true. The problem is, I have yet to be true to myself or live in the truth that is in Christ. Am I genuine? Am I authentic? Am I loyal? All these terms satisfy the meaning of truth but have yet to define who I am. My loyalties are divided. My authenticity covered and my genuiness a mask guarding the truth hidden in my heart. I am a sinner desperate for acceptance. I long to say what I mean but more importantly I long to mean in truth what it is that I say.

Mere seconds. That is all I was given to speak every thought running through my mind. If I was only given the chance to speak what is so engraved in my heart and embedded so deep. We are only given one moment. Then the page is turned the conversation shifts and the phone comes to a dead end.

When we are given our moment to leave nothing unspoken, will we have the courage? Will we rise to the challenge? Do we even dare? Do we speak the truth in love? Can we even dare to speak at all?

One moment. Truth or dare? I dare you to speak the truth in love and leave nothing left unspoken because sometimes we are only given one chance.

Speaking the truth in love is never easy and sometimes we have many opportunities but still stand back and don't say what we should. Then, like you mentioned, we may have only one time to speak up and it's so vital to take that moment and share the Gospel and Jesus' plan for ending our troublesome and weary sinning ways. May we each know and take that opportunity when it comes!

Speaking truth is wonderful but living it is extradordary.
