“So it’s like a dare? You’re daring me to test my house up here against yours?” The house owner said.
“Yes in a way. I know you have nice view but cliff houses don’t sell much, but a beach house really sells itself. It’s not the view, it’s the location.”
“Alright then, you have a bet, if the beach house survives the hurricane, I will buy it as an investment, however if mine is standing strong, I don’t want to see you again.”
“Alright, see you next month then.”
The house owner shut the door as the smiling salesman walked down his driveway and to his car. He had to pack some things; he was leaving just in case the hurricane took a turn for the worse.

One month later.
The salesman stood on the beach, looking at the empty cliff. However, he wasn’t smiling; his beach houses didn’t survive the hurricane either. Not a single stick was on the beach, it was all in the ocean.
He decided to drive up to the cliff and look at the damage up there. It took about thirty minutes in a roundabout drive. He stopped at the driveway.
His jaw dropped.
The house owner was just getting one pack of shingles out of the back of his pick up truck. He set it down by the ladder.
The salesman looked at the roof, it looked fine, a lot better than the beach houses. The house probably lost three shingles off its roof.
The house owner walked up to the salesman.
“This house has stood for fifty years, I lived in it for the past fifteen and it survived even the hardest of hurricanes. It survived Katrina and I only had to replace two windows, some of the roof, and some loose paneling. This time it was just a few shingles.”
“So you knew I would fail?”
“The truth is that I knew that nothing has stood up down there for the past ten years. My house is founded on a rock and not loose sand. Let me show you something. Are you hungry?”
In the house the house owner picked up a Bible and began to show the man why he knew.
