She sat at the computer, staring hard at the word processing screen, and almost hoping that what she needed to write would just compose itself. In many ways, she was still playing hide and seek with other people. She didn't want them to get too close to her -- to be able to see everything that had been broken. However, the only problem with that was she belonged to Christ -- Christ, who wanted everyone to belong to Him, wanted her to stop hiding and reveal what He had fixed. She knew what she had to do, but somehow making herself do it seemed like hard labor.
The doubts and discouragements filled her thoughts as she wrote -- almost sounding like voices in her head: You shouldn't do this! You are a mess! Your life has been filled with mistakes and stupid thoughtless actions. Nobody will learn anything from your example.
You aren't following your own example, you're following Mine. And yes, you have made mistakes but so has everyone who belongs to Christ. Testify.
“God, help me live to testify -- teach me to speak. You've got to help me stop hiding. It has become an almost natural reaction. I understand that by refusing to let Your Light shine through my disability and my mistakes, I, unintentionally, am behaving unfaithfully and may be keeping others from seeing You and Your glory.”
John 9:1-7 (NIV) “As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
"Neither this man nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world."
Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man's eyes. "Go," he told him, "wash in the Pool of Siloam" (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.”
