For me, the trip home from the hospital included a ride across the bridge to our house. The bridge my Dad built over the small lake on our property. As children, my brothers and sisters and I played on this lake and on and around the bridge. It was the first thing I crossed on my first driving lesson with Daddy and the place my older brother stood, protectively watching as I came home from my first date.
As a teenager I took the time to proudly point out the bridges in our city that my Dad designed. I’m sure my friends got tired of hearing it, but I never tired of saying “That’s one of Daddy’s bridges.”
I never dreamed that one of my Daddy’s bridges would be the place where my dreams would become reality. But it was at a local park on a very simple wooden bridge where the most wonderful man asked me to marry him.
Now today I stand ready to cross a new bridge, not one that my Daddy built, but one that my heavenly Father designed just for me. This bridge will be the road to a completely new life. And as I stand next to my Daddy, at the edge of the bridge in the park, I know that I am ready. Today is the day I will join the man that God created for me and I will become his wife.
“Are you ready?” Daddy asks.
“I think so.” I reply as I take a deep breathe.
“You’re not sad are you?” Daddy says as he quickly looks at my face.
I dab at the corners of my eyes, hoping my waterproof mascara will do its job. “Maybe just a little.”
“Well just remember sweetheart, bridges are about possibility. Sometimes it’s about leaving something behind…”
“I know Daddy, but it’s always about finding something new.”
“Right.” He says with a smile. “I know you are ready, you just have to be willing to follow God’s lead and take that step across.”
“I know Daddy.”
And in those simple words from my loving Daddy I know that I really am ready. Ready to take on the challenges of a new life and a new beginning. Ready to follow God’s leading wherever he may take me. And ready to begin my new life as a wife.
On my Daddy’s arm, with a smile on my face and tears in my eyes, I slowly walk across the bridge.

Thank you for writing this.
I would add an extra space between paragraphs to make it easier to read, though.
May God bless.
