Remember not the sins of my youth.
Leave behind the former things, do not turn and look.
Remember Lot’s wife…
Memory…
As I contemplate and meditate
On thoughts about the past
I’m reminded of my Saviour’s word
Of how it will not last.
“Do not remember what is o’er
Keep looking up and forward
Forgetting that which lies behind
Will give strength to go onward.
That which is good and grand for you
Has come and gone so soon
As a flower in the field
You see the fading of its bloom.
The glory that once was
has been replaced with what is here
So lift your eyes up heavenward
Fresh faith is ever near.”
And now I do remember;
Once again I meditate.
No longer holding tightly
To the things that crowd my pate,
But rather on God’s promises
Of everlasting life;
Of kindness, grace and mercy
Of peace, that’s free from strife.
Of faithfulness that He has giv’n
Of love that never fails.
These are the thoughts
I feed on now:
‘tis love that shall prevail.
