My father is one of a kind. He’s kind and loving, a hardworking man. He doesn’t always say “I love you”, but I know he does. My Dad has 5 kids, 11 grandkids, and 1 great-grand daughter. When our family gets together, it’s quite a crowd. My Mom and Dad have been married almost 50 years, and have been great examples for our family and community. Our family has been extremely blessed. We’ve not lost anyone in our immediate family to death, and except for one grandchild, we’re together as one unit on most holidays, birthdays. Etc. Some people might ask why we’ve managed to stay so close, and I guess I would have to say, “God”. Because one day as a young man (in his early twenties), my Father accepted Christ as his Saviour. This enabled us, as his children, to see Christ in him.
I personally accepted Christ as my Saviour when I was about 41/2 years old. I’m so blessed to not only have one wonderful Dad, but two, my earthly father and my Heavenly Father. I call my earthly father, Daddy and my children call him Papa. I consider myself blessed to have him and to be loved by him. I also feel blessed to be a child of the King, I guess that gives a whole new meaning to the term, “Daddy’s Little Princess”. The joy of feeling loved, cherished and wanted gives me assurance and peace in this wild and crazy world we live in. Do you remember the complete assurance that “Daddy” would take care of you? That peace that says, “You’d better not mess with me, because my Daddy’s bigger than your Daddy!” Well, I remember, because I feel that peace everyday.
Satan would like for me to feel that I’m out here in this big old world all on my own, but I’m not. My Heavenly father is always with me. When the battles get rough, the intensity high, I remember this verse, “In what place therefore, ye hear the sound of the trumpet, resort ye thither unto us: our God shall fight for us.” Nehemiah 4:20, King James Version. When I’m down and out, my battles seemingly unending, I remember that my God shall fight for me! Just like my Daddy loves me and protects me, my God loves me and protects me. What joy it is to be that special to someone. I am precious and special to both my Fathers!
My Daddy’s beliefs, ways, and even his decisions in life have shaped me into the woman I am today. I believe that I’m being shaped daily by my Heavenly Father also. I hope to be more like them both as I grow older and wiser. I hope you’ve been blessed with a wonderful earthly father, and I hope you know my Heavenly Father as well. If you’ve not accepted Christ as your Saviour I pray that today will be the day of your salvation. The peace that I have can be yours as well!
