How much longer will she keep running? How much more hurt created and endured? Lord I know that You love her, can you please pry open her eyes? I know there are many ways you have tried, many opportunities for her to choose better.
What does the place look like where there is nowhere else to look but up? Do I even want to know the darkness of that place? I thought she had seen it.
I hoped the last phone call about her situation could be a catalyst for healing. She overdosed on cocaine but already checked out of the hospital. Social Services stepped in and took the children. Thankfully Dad and his wife were able to be guardians.
For how long though? Even though I am grateful for a safe haven for the children; their mom's love is what they know, regardless of the messes she's been in. Please protect their hearts Oh God.
Teach me to love her with Your love Lord. I am not capable on my own. I know your heart is for her, she is your child. You know how many times she will run from You, and yet you wait patiently.
I know the rest of the family has 'had it with her behavior'. I confess at one time I would have felt the same way. The more I know you Lord, the more I can be compassionate, at least enough to pray.
We have not walked where she has walked, we do not feel as she feels. If we can look past her coping mechanisms and see her soul, would we see a reflection of our own pain and shame? Is that why it is so difficult to look, to reach out, to love her despite the hurt?
You created her soul Lord and it is ultimately her responsibility to care for it. She needs to choose life, please Father have mercy on her and guide my sister to choose wisely.
Deuteronomy 31:19 NIV "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now, choose life, so that you and your children may live."

so sad! If it wasn't for the title, this could have been about anyone that you are close to. A little more background or memories would have made it easier to relate to.
so sorry, praying for you and your family.

What an awesome and gripping prayer! I know it came from the heart. "Pry open her eyes" was perfectly worded. Sometimes we pray that God will open our eyes, but when we pray "pry open" it is stronger and shows more determination than to simply say "open our eyes". We, too, must pray that we can love with His love. Our love is just not sufficient enough. Continue praying, God is faithful. Scripture at the end topped off your article perfectly. Nicely done.
