The Empty Nest

A mother’s touch can rock the world as such.
A hand that takes mine and makes it fine.
It’s in the midnight hour I’ve felt its power.
It can soothe the cries of a babe who shuts its eyes.

There is so much to learn for you I yearn.
You’re there to teach me as I learn to see.
There to show me the way as I grow each day.
If I take a step, it’s a feat that’s very neat.

If you’ve time to believe, I might achieve.
The dreams of yesteryear will meet us there.
I‘m just a little tot who may be distraught.
One of these days I‘ll tie my shoes just as you do.

Soon there will be a day I’ll fly away.
I’ll leave the empty nest like a guest.
The love of a mother is like no other.
It can not be bought no matter how it is sought.

A poem! You did a good job with your inner rhyme. The rhythm was a little rough in spots, but over all it was good. I can tell that you had a wonderful mother who taught you well and gave you a strong foundation for your life.
