As he grew up, like many young men, his head was easily turned by the allure of the world. Growing up in a family-oriented environment, he became fascinated with the bright lights of the big city. When the opportunity arose, he moved away from his uncle into a life that would bring success, while drawing him farther from the faith of his family.
After years of life filled with compromise and self-indulgence, he was thrust into a situation that would change life as he knew it. It was the intercession of his uncle, the one he left behind, that would save his life. The one man who continued to care and follow his nephew’s life; the one who knew the One True God.
Abraham’s obedience drew him closer to God, while Lot continued to pursue his own career farther and farther away, deeper into the culture of city life. Although he chose a different path, he may have always remembered the lessons learned while on the move, having his own life spared by the God of Abraham.
