It is interesting to note, that these aunts and uncles always referred to my wife as their niece, but never referred to me as their nephew. I was introduced as, “this is my niece and her husband”. Of course that never made me feel as close to those aunts and uncles, as my only aunt on my mother’s side, that I grew up with. Nevertheless, they are my aunts and uncle through marriage, and are still all my aunts and uncles blood related or not., and are a real blessing from the Lord. .
Some aunts, and uncles never marry, and therefore are childless. That was the case with my Mother’s sister, and an aunt and uncle on my wife’s side who also never had children. They treated our children as our parents did. These two aunts and uncle were such a wonderful blessing from the Lord, and that was all of God’s design for our lives.
It is unfortunate today that Childless aunts and uncles are neglected because of our busy life styles. They want to share in your family, and love your children as your parents love them, and often time they are considered as cramping our style with our busy lives. Their desires are to express their love, every way they can and sometimes even leads to spoiling the child, by giving in to everything that they want. They always look forward to being with their aunts. The aunts receive great joy in giving to your children, and that comes from the Lord, who shed His love abroad in their hearts.
This sisterly love stems from their love for their sisters, and brotherly love for their brothers, and adult love for your children. Most of us as young people never think about their loneliness without children, or do we understand that they want to share in their sibling’s joy. Keep in mind that most sisters are very close, and their sister’s children are their heritage also stemming from the same roots. Isn’t the Lord good to bless us this way?
The reason that aunts and uncles are such a gift from God is that they know, support, encourage, and love your children whether you are a niece or nephew. It give them great joy to buy your children special gifts, and do things with them. I recall, that at Christmas they shared in our joy, and the joy of our children, when our children were small enough to enjoy Santa Claus. They were used of the Lord to bless us, and we were used of the Lord to bless them. We never really understood that until after they were gone, and we grew up in the Lord. Now we know that they were more than just aunts and uncles, they were the Lord‘s blessings.
Today some of you may be aunts or uncles, because you have brothers or sisters who are married with children, and even though you do not have a family yet, you can enjoy and share in your siblings love, and their children. Remember, they are your family, and you can be a wonderful blessing to them, as your nephews, and nieces. When you draw near to them they will draw near to you, and will love you for who you are their favorite aunt, or uncle.
Also remember, your brothers and sisters have the same love for you, that you have for them, and they still want your fellowship, even though you have your own family. Remember, whether they are blood relatives or not., they are still your family. Let them be aunts, especially the childless aunts to brag, on, and enjoy your children as you do..

It is only my opinion, but I think it would have taken on a more personal voice if you had tweaked some of the accolades and used the space to share a memorable, specific incident in greater detail.
