“Where can I find envelopes,” I ask the elderly guard. He points to the marble stand near the teller’s counter.
I saunter in the direction pointed. In the passageway, I bump into a well-dress gent who styles a black turtle neck sweater and black pants. His dark brown hair shines; every strain in place. He takes a deposit slip and begins to write. I stand next to him. He appears nervous; regularly looking at his watch then looking to his left then to his right. I gaze at him for a second then I continue to fill out my deposit slip. Afterwards, the gent hurriedly passes me as if in the Kentucky Derby. He takes his place in the teller’s line. I stand behind him. Several other visitors enter the bank and take their places in the line behind me.
“May I help you,” echoed the teller to the gent
The teller in her early twenties; seems inexperienced as she consults her trainer who stands near her. Her name tag is a giveaway as it displays the words trainee.
“Great,” I said to myself as I observe the novice in action. And, she is the only teller working. The gent moved towards to the counter; placing his slip before the teller. She checks her computer and says, “Sir, you have five dollars in your account. If you withdraw it, your account would close automatically.”
The gent puts another slip on the counter in front of the teller. I impatiently shift from my left foot to my right.
“Would you please hurry up?” I screamed in my head. “I am going to miss the bus.”
Nonetheless, I dare not say that out loud for fear of retribution. The teller’s color leaves her face as she reads the slip. She momentarily turns for help when the nervous gent pulls out a gun from his pocket.
“Give me the money lady!”
The elderly security guard wrestles to stand on his feet, nevertheless, his chair refuses to release him. He tugs for his gun, but can’t get it out of the holster. My eyes widen. I begin to shake. I want to faint but my knees wouldn’t give away to the weight. I stand motionless. The nervous man waves his gun all around. Everyone crouches in fear; that is everyone except me. He faces the teller counter.
“Put the money in the bag, now!” “Hurry up,” he yells.
With shaking hands, the teller puts the money in a white bag with a zipper on top. He didn’t give her a chance to zip up the bag. He snatches the bag from the teller’s hands and rushes passed me through the double doors out to the street. I drop to my knees and thank God for watching over us.
Meanwhile the gent hurries to his car. There is no hesitation in opening the car door. He throws the money bag in the passenger’s seat. Then he notices a pink slip under his windshield wiper. He recovers a it. He reads it then crumbles it up and throws it on the floor of the car. He places the key into the ignition and turns the key.
Meanwhile, the bank personnel notifies the police while asking all customers to remain in the building for questioning. I remain in the same spot. I couldn’t move.
Suddenly, the door opens. To our surprise, it is the bank robber. He walks pass me carrying the money bag and hands it to the teller.
“I am sorry for robbing your bank.”
The bewildered teller took the money then asked “What made you return the money?”
The bank robber continues to say, “Someone left a note on my car with this written on it: “Be content with such as you have.”
“That’s made you return the money?” The teller asked. “No”, I am content with the money; I just couldn’t drive off with it. My car won’t start. Could you call me a tow truck?”
So distressed by the ordeal, I said to the gent, “You have no money, a broke car and you will be going to jail. You would have been better taking the five dollars and going to McDonalds.” The police arrest him.

Sorry, I couldn't resist!
I really enjoyed your story.
I was confused as to why the guard couldn't move. It has strange and slightly unbelievable ending, but you were right on topic.
keep writing.
