Topic: The Church (12/06/07)
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3 NIV

In the New Century Version 2 Timothy 4:3 says, people will not listen to the true teaching but will find many more teachers who please them. It seems today that pastors want to make people feel good, there afraid to ruffle people's feathers. The question we need to ask, is that good? No, it's not good, because the church does not talk about sin anymore. It is not surprising to me that the problems we have today's in society. I never thought 10 years ago, that we would be talking about gay marriage. It also seems like it is common practice for people to live together before marriage. What is wrong with this picture? Where is the church?

We need to have a church that is not afraid to tell the truth. I believe that the Lord is called us to live pure lives, it should be church that is challenging us to do so.

Amen to this message. We have allowed the culture to influence the church and not the church to influence the culture.
As a pastor's wife, I know this battle all to well. Keep sharing the Word!

An apt message and something for us all to take to heart.

Be careful of the spelling of "they're", and also be aware of generalizations like "the church does not talk about sin any more." Surely there are many churches that do!

Nevertheless, this is good food for thought.
