Another fist mark entered the wall as Thomas drew it away. His life was ruined. Nothing could make him happy now. His girlfriend had dumped him. His best friends had left him here while they went to Magic Mountain. His father had lied to him, and his mother didn’t give him the X-Box he wanted for his birthday.
To make maters worse almost all the rest of his friends who didn’t go to Magic Mountain had become Christians. Christians! Of all things! Why Christians? He would never be part of that group again. From now on he would only hang out with his best friends.
But then they apparently don’t care about him either. After all they went to Magic Mountain without him. There was nothing left for him in this world.
“Thomas!” He heard his mother call from the hallway. “Stop making so much racket and start getting ready for school. You are leaving in twenty-five minutes. And don‘t forget to feed the cat!”
“All right! I’m coming, I’m coming!” Thomas shouted back. More school.
On the bus that morning, Thomas sat on one of the back seats by himself. No way was he going to sit up front with his friends where he usually sat.
But as he sat there watching the scenery go by on of his friends came to sit by him. On of his Christian friends.
“Hey.” Said the boy, Kyle was his name. “Why don’t you come sit by us? You always do.”
“Sit by you?” Thomas scoffed. “I would do no such thing. You are a Christian now and so are your friends.”
“What is wrong with being a Christian. We are not dangerous you know. We are just people like you. Come on.” Kyle prompted.
“Don’t try to turn me! You won’t succeed! And you know it!” Tomas knew his former friend was trying to make him become a Christian, but nothing would make him turn.
“I’m not trying to make you a Christian I just want you to sit with me.” Kyle had a look of disappointment on his face as he got up to walk back to his seat.
Thank goodness we are at school now I do not want to continue arguing with him. He just doesn’t understand how dangerous the Christian religion is. Thomas thought.
As Thomas left the bus he decided to humor his friends and maybe think of becoming a Christian. He didn’t know what spurred him to think about that, he didn’t even know how the idea got in his head. He thought it might be interesting.
After school Thomas found his x-Christian friends. “So guys I thought I might try to humor you and think about this Christian thing. It sounds quite boring but I thought I might be occasionally nice, after you guys dumped me. But you know I might not become a Christian.”
“Great! Come to church on Sunday and we could help you.” Kyle said enthusiastically.
“Church! I would never do that! Are you crazy!? Christians are dangerous!” Thomas nearly screamed.
“Come on Christians aren’t dangerous. Church will be fun. We will even pick you up in the morning.”
Kyle sounded so convincing that Thomas considered it. “Well, I’ll think about it.”
