Proverbs 21:21 (NASB)
“He who pursues righteousness and loyalty
Finds life, righteousness and honor.”
Today’s world can be complex and trying. We are faced with new trials and new problems every day. The days of “Mayberry” and “Leave It to Beaver” are long past.
When I was a young child we did so many things as a family. We ate dinner together, we played games together, and we went to church together. Many families today rarely eat dinner together. So many of us are busy “making our families happier and more fulfilling” that we are hardly ever home. We are taking Susie to Volleyball practice, Little Robbie to Karate, and then we go through the drive-through for dinner. No sitting around the table where we can look at one another and ask, “How was your day?”
We are not doomed to live life in the fast lane just because our world is in some kind of a Super Race. What are we racing toward? “Stop the world I want to get off” has new meaning to many of us. We get caught up in the whirlwind of life and forget what life is really all about.
God meant for us to live life and to live it more abundantly! Wow! What a concept! Look at John 10:10 (NASB) “…I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
We need to slow down. Read Matthew 11:28 (NASB)
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”
What does God promise us? We can have meaning and fulfillment in our lives when we put Him first. Look at Matthew 6:33 (NASB) "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
Here are a few simple things that you can start doing today!
• Make an “appointment” with God. In the morning, when you wake up, give Him your first thoughts by saying a prayer before you get out of bed.
• Put a small devotional book in your bathroom.
• Write Bible verses on Sticky Notes and stick them on your mirror in your bedroom.
“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” Galatians 5:25 (NASB)
