Topic: Encouragement (among believers) (11/08/07)
When things go from bad to worse, what happens then? Why do I feel as if I couldn’t care less what happens? I feel emotionally numb. Like I just couldn’t feel anything anymore. Apathetic. I hate this feeling. It’s a feeling of merely existing. I have been called many different names in my time. However, I’ve never been called Satan. Maybe I am. Maybe that’s why I do what I do and don’t do what I don’t do. Well, I don’t really think I’m Satan, but maybe I’ve let him get a foothold somewhere and don’t know how to get rid of him in my life. Why else would I hurt the one person I’m supposed to love and cherish the most? I’m just horribly in the wrong and I don’t know how to climb out of this pit I am in for good.

As a Christian, you don’t want to admit when Satan has found himself a place in your life. It is preferable to place the blame on others. They just don’t understand, or they treat you poorly. Justification of actions is not acceptable. A growing Christian should know right from wrong and circumstances should not matter. I have told myself these things over and over and over again and yet I find myself in the same predicament over and over and over again. Why? What is so wrong with me that I can’t overcome this pain and suffering and inflicting the same on my husband?

Perhaps I’m trying by myself. Maybe I should lean on someone rather than my own understanding. All is not hopeless. One day at a time. I did not make my situation by having one lapse of judgment. I did not get to the bottom of the pit merely by falling. I had to dig it. Since it took a while to get to this point, nothing is going to change overnight. 1 Peter 5:10 has been my mantra while working through the root issues that caused me to dig. “And after you suffer for a short time, God, who gives all grace, will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in his glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever.” NCV

I cling to this promise that he will make me strong and support me and keep me from falling. He will help me make the right choices day after day. He will help me be strong when temptation comes my way. He will lift me up. And you know what? I might have some bad days. I may not make the right choices all the time. But God still loves me and he will stay by my side as I go through the process of climbing out of my self-made pit one step at a time. And he will do the same for you.

You make some good points in this piece. One that stands out is, "Since it took a while to get to this point, nothing is going to change overnight."

This was very good. There is a lot packed into here. I did like the first person approach, the changing of POV in the second paragraph kinda threw me off, but it worked out okay in the end. Good message. ^_^
