How can we spread the message of the good news of Jesus? Going from door to door like a salesman doesn’t sound that appealing. Maybe to some, it does. Can you imagine though how many doors would get shut in your face before you begin to try and tell someone about the good news? Besides, who wants to hear this message anyway? Seeing especially how people appear to be living today with their hearts turned away from God. This is the “anything goes” age we live in now days. Do you think people really want to hear how Jesus can save them from self destruction? We live in such a fast paced world, who has the time to listen anymore?
Now, let’s see, should we peddle the good news of Jesus? Should we promote, advertise, or paint the “good news” on a park bench. Billboards are a good place to advertise. Seems to me, it just depends on how we want to serve it up to others?
Have you thought about this? We’re so caught up in the “dollar bill,” until what man or woman is going to believe they can acquire salvation without having to pay something tangible for it. How can you get them to see and understand that salvation has already been paid for through the blood of Jesus on the cross?
Now, some of us are visual and need to see things for ourselves. We have a doubting Thomas mentality; needing to see it before we can believe it. We want to see how Jesus died on the cross, see the kind of cross he hung on, see the nails in his hands and feet, see the crown of thorns he wore on his head, see the suffering he endured, and see the people who mocked him. We want to see the thieves who hung on either side of him and what they looked like. We even want to witness the last breath Jesus took. We want to see him rise from the grave. Only then will we believe the message of the “good news” of Jesus.
How sad some of the lessons we have to suffer and learn before we can believe; because of the need to see for ourselves. For some of us, our hearts will only change when we see the evidence of why we need to change. We have not realized yet that Jesus is the resurrected proof of the “good news” which is ours to claim. What we feel in our hearts and the picture we see in our minds should be enough to convict us when someone shares the good news of Jesus with us. Even though there are those who may not want to hear it, it is still our duty as believers to tell it; to spread the message. We may be the only voice our brother or sister may ever hear telling them about the good news of Jesus. Who was it that told you about the good news of Jesus?
