I’ve heard it said that for any born-again Christian to become a vibrant missionary or evangelist, all it would take is five minutes in hell. And I have no doubt that would be true. Can any of us even possibly imagine how our lives would be forever changed if we spent 300 seconds in that pit of fire?

What must it be like for a soul to know that all hope for salvation is lost? The span of forever lurks ahead of it with terrifying reality. Down in that spirit-world so thick with the gruesome evil of the devil and his demons. And as that soul longs for death that will never come, how it must be plagued with memories of its life where opportunities for God’s saving grace were rejected and warnings of this lake of fire were scoffed at.

But beyond the physical pain that wretched soul experiences is another aspect that must make its misery multiplied by a million. And that is the simple fact that God Almighty is not there. No whispered prayer of repentance will reach Him. No cry from an anguished soul will touch His ears. He is just not there.

And now my question is, how would five minutes change your vision for reaching the lost who still have a chance?
