Topic: Evangelism (11/01/07)
The condition of the United States of America saddens me. Every Sunday, we go to church. We pray God help bring a revival to our country. As we go about our lives through the week, we witness the garbage and filth on our televisions, radios and computers. Our schools no longer welcome God in them. The children have no hope. The age for teenage pregnancy is getting younger and younger. In fact, now middle schools are starting to give out birth control! The kids are cutting themselves, trying to commit suicide, drug use is everywhere. Homosexuality is welcomed Where is their hope? What are they witness to. Their parents are in debt and working desperately to pay bills of large oversized homes, full of expensive furniture and the latest electronic equipment, expensive new cars…many of which are now losing their homes. Parents are using drugs and alcohol. Families are falling apart.

How did this happen?? We live in the only country ever established “ One Nation, Under God”. Our country is the only country in the world with “In God We Trust” on our currency. Why are so many people turning away from God and how can we help to turn them back?

We, as Christian have been commissioned by Christ to go and tell. Unfortunately many people just don’t want to hear it. Or sometimes, well meaning Christians, trying to follow Christ’s command, end up turning people away from Christ rather than to him by unknowingly judging them..

How do we witness to others and not make them angry? Well, this has been a big question for me. I have a husband who doesn’t have a personal relationship with Christ and one of the first things I figured out was he doesn’t really care to hear me quoting bible verses to him. He doesn’t really care to attend church with me. The most important thing I learned about witnessing or evangelizing to someone is, that in order for the Holy Spirit to work, I have to surrender the entire situation to God in prayer.It needs to be his words, his work. I only need to be there. Many times, I don’t even need to speak.

We need to keep our eyes on Jesus, surrender our will to his and trust God to do the work. Our job is to loves others, even our enemies and be intercessors for them.

One of the best tools our church has utilized is prayer walking. When we step out into the world, walking and praying where God has placed it upon our hearts to pray, we are putting God back in the world, trusting in him and allowing him to work.

In fact, God has put a special burden on my heart. I have been walking the perimeter of our cities schools and praying God back into them! What an exciting experience! I’ve always prayed and known that prayer is an important part of my life. I just never understood how to utilize it. I am thankful that God is now teaching me to follow his lead and how to bring about his will. As we walk about our communities, we open doors for the Holy Spirit to work. What an exciting experience it is to be a tool of God’s will, allowing those we pray for the opportunity to be touched by his spirit.


I hope that many more will join in. We can sit in the pews of our church, praying for a revival, or we can take a step in faith and start praying our God back in the streets, schools, homes and government (just as Jesus did his ministry), one step and pray at a time. Let’s take back our country! Our School! Our communities! Our government!! One prayer at a time~~ as we do so, we will start to see awesome changes!!
