As he sat up in bed he heard the sound of familiar footsteps coming down the hallway towards his bedroom. The door opened and in came his mother wearing a nice dress covered by a full length apron that was covered in what appeared to be what she had been preparing for breakfast.
Tommy's mother June said “Good morning, my little dumplin’“ as she passed by to open the curtains and let the light in.
Hugging his Poochie tightly and rubbing his eyes, he asked “What day is it mummy?”
June sat down and said “its Sunday today honey, we have to get ready for church soon, so it’s time to eat some breakfast”
Tommy looked up at his mother smiling, he liked Sunday morning, it was always fun at church and they always had something yummy for breakfast. Tilting his head to the side and with a sparkle of wonder in his eyes, he said “mummy, whats for breakfast?”
Pulling back the covers June said “it’s your favourite, pancakes with butter and maple syrup.”
After breakfast, Tommy’s older brother Charlie helped him to wash up, as he had made a mess of himself as he usually did whenever he had pancakes. Charlie then helped him to get dressed in a cute little outfit for church. Tommy came running out into the kitchen where his mother was doing the morning dishes.
“How do I look mummy?” yelled Tommy excitingly
June wiped her hands and crouched down and putting her hands on his shoulders said “You look adorable…. almost good enough to eat.” Tommy turned a little red and then squealed a little and laughed as his mother tickled him.
“Who’s that I hear laughing” said Tommy’s father Clive as he came through the back door.
Tommy ran around his mother and stood in front of his father holding his arms skywards, jumping up and down a little, urging his father to be picked up. Clive lifted Tommy up and holding him side saddle with one arm said “Ok it’s time to go to church, is everyone ready?” said Clive expecting there to be no disagreement. Everyone went outside and piled into the clean and shiny station wagon for the ride to church.
When they arrived at church, they all went into the main sanctuary and sang the morning songs and hymns. Before the sermon the minister announced that it was time for Sunday school. As soon as the announcement was made, all the kids including Tommy ran towards the door at the back of the church, which led to the Sunday school room, making exciting noises and squeals of glee.
Tommy loved Sunday school and learning about Jesus. He couldn’t sit still this morning because his friend Shawn had come to church with him and was sitting next to him on the floor. He had told Shawn all about how good God was and how much he enjoyed being a Christian. He really wanted Shawn to accept Jesus so he could love Jesus and follow him too. That morning when the Sunday school leader asked if there were any new people, Tommy’s hand flew up and he excitingly told everyone about his friend Shawn. After all the kids welcomed Shawn, the leader started the lesson the same way he normally did, asking if anyone wanted to accept Jesus into their heart if they never had before. Shawn smiled and put up his hand, Tommy smiled a great big smile and put his arm around Shawn and from that day on Tommy and Shawn were like brothers and came to Church and Sunday school every Sunday together.

The writing style is very clear and the details are good which makes for great storytelling.
FYI--you don't need the apostrophe in your title, as "Sundays" is plural, not possessive.
I wish Sunday mornings were just like this in every household with yound children.
