Words that describe surprised are amazed, awed. We can be amazed at what God can do in our lives. There are times when circumstances are overwhelming and overbearing. In our humanity, we feel like we’ve “hit rock bottom.” “What am I to do?,” one may ask. All that we’ve learned in church or bible study doesn’t seem realistic. According to our intelligence, the situation seems impossible.

What is impossible? Impossible is beyond reason, hopeless. When we depend on the Lord, we cannot look at reason. We cannot depend on intelligence. We are frail compared to the supernatural power of God.

Some surprises are attacks from the enemy of our soul. Satan and his fellow wicked spirits can launch an “assault” on the Believer without warning. This is another form of surprised -- an attack or assault made without warning.

For the Believer, there is hope. Power from God comes through constant prayer and strong faith. God, in His sovereignty, makes a surprising rescue. It is through Christ Jesus, that we can overcome.
