My favorite scene in the movie ‘The Apostle’ was when his mother received a phone call in the middle of the night because her son was waking people up from his shouting. And his mother replied to the caller, “Some times he talks to the Lord and sometimes he shouts at the Lord.”
I too had my time of shouting when I was angry at him for taking my mother at the age of fifty-one with cancer. I prayed everyway possible and had the strongest of faith but I felt He had failed me and I became angry and wanted Him to leave me alone. But He would not leave me alone.
Praise be to His Holy Name because He is big enough for us let out all our emotions on Him and He just responds in love back toward us. Thank you Lord for being there for me when I needed You most.
We get angry at Him when we do not understand, why? But one day we will see things as He had seen it, in the mean time we give Him Glory for it all.
May my prayer be as it is in the closing of the morning Amidah prayer, “May I not become angry today, and may I not anger You. Rescue me from the evil inclination, and place in my heart submissiveness and humility.”
