Topic: Embarrassed (07/19/07)
Recently I was eating lunch in a crowded food court with a dear friend of mine. We were talking about God’s love, and how the devil has no power over us. I always look forward to these conversations with her, because we have both experienced God’s emotional healing. It’s always exciting to share with each other the new revelations God has given us.

My friend was telling me how the devil has tried to steal her confidence, as God has been moving in her life. Suddenly I became aware the ladies at the next table were listening to our conversation. I felt my cheeks flush, and I became embarrassed. I nearly told my friend to lower her already gentle voice. Thoughts were racing through my mind of how I felt when people spoke so boldly of God before I was saved. Although I had respect for their opinion, I assumed they were fanatical. I had loved and recognized God, but at home in private where no one could judge me.

Just as quickly as I was embarrassed by our conversation in front of these woman, I was embarrassed of my reaction in front of God. He has given me comfort and peace. He has dried my tears. He sent His only son Jesus to die for my sins. What if Jesus were embarrassed to go to God on my behalf as He has promised, even though I have accepted Him as my Lord and Savior?

My embarrassment then turned to guilt. God gently reminded me that I no longer have to live under guilt and condemnation, thanks to the shed blood of Jesus. He understands that I live in a fleshly body, and that I still have human emotions. I am only made perfect through Jesus.

Friend have you have been embarrassed by your walk with God? Don’t carry around guilt or condemnation; leave it in the hands of God where it belongs. Romans 8:33-34 says “God does not condemn me because He has justified me, Jesus does not condemn me because He is seated at the right hand of God pleading for me in intercession.” The emotion of guilt is just another lie from the devil. Let’s not be moved by our emotions. Let’s be moved by the edifying, truthful, living Word of God!

Offer this prayer to God: “Father God, thank you for the narrow path of righteousness You lay before me in Your Word. It is simply a road map for my life! I will continue to delight in Your ways! Please speak to my heart, remind me to seek the truth of Your Word. Help me to grow strong and confident in You. I never want to be embarrassed to be Your witness or vessel again! I run to You for shelter. I find my strength in You. I will continue to praise Your name! In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.”
