His love was sitting beside him, holding his hand as they both watched the sun go down. He was truly happy. God had given him the woman that was truly meant for him, and even though they had faced many trials over the years, God had strengthened their love. Their children were all grown now, and had moved away long ago to pursue what God had in store for them. They were proud of their children and what they had become – people of God.
Even with the loss of health that had occurred from old age, Harry couldn’t be more content. He knew that God had the best in mind for him and his wife. It had taken him a long time to realize that, and the times of doubting had taken a toll on his faith. But when he had inevitably turned back to God again and started trusting Him, his faith grew beyond what it was before, and his love for God grew as well.
He put his arm around his wife and whispered in her ear, “Isn’t God great?”
She just nodded and closed her eyes, enjoying their embrace.
He was happy.
