nothing but a miracle between a man and wife.
They melted at your twinkling eyes and perfect little toes,
The special gift God gave them had already warmed their souls.
Your daddy touched you lovingly and your mom looked up and saw
a single tear fall on his cheek, though she could barely hear him speak,
she won’t forget what he said to you – the words he whispered still hold true;
“Look at you – just look at you, so tiny laying here.
You’ve got the world before you now, I know God’s plan will work, somehow,
It’s up to you to see it through and show the world what God can do.
Just look at you.”
Those first few years passed quickly, then you headed off to school –
so proud that you were old enough to join the other boys and girls.
They kissed your cheek and tossed your hair before they said goodbye,
Your mother turned and looked away so you wouldn’t see her cry.
But your daddy touched you lovingly and your mom looked up and saw
a single tear fall on his cheek, though she could barely hear him speak,
she won’t forget what he said to you – the words he whispered still hold true;
“Look at you – just look at you, so tiny sitting here.
You’ve got the world before you now, I know God’s plan will work, somehow,
It’s up to you to see it through and show the world what God can do.
Just look at you.”
It wasn’t long before you wore a flowing cap and gown;
about to head to College in a far away new town.
They couldn’t be more proud of you and all that you had done;
the choices you had made thus far in a life you’d just begun.
And then they took another breath – the days they thought were few.
But here you stand before them now about to say, “I do.”
The one that you have chosen, they have welcomed as their own,
And know that God will show you both a happy, loving home.
And one more time, she eyed your Dad – and what do you think she saw?
A single tear fall on his cheek, though she could barely hear him speak,
She won’t forget what he said to you; the words he whispered still hold true;
“Look at you – just look at you, so tiny standing here.
You’ve got the world before you now, I know God’s plan will work, somehow,
It’s up to you to see it through and show the world what God can do.
Just look at you.”
