Finally, she was almost finished. Slowly, she attached the shiny pink ribbon to the edges of her masterpiece. Knowing this would be her last, Barb draped the baby quilt over the sofa and sighed. Her hands ached with pain.
As Barb packed the box to send the precious quilt, she thought about the time when she brought her eldest daughter home from the hospital. Then, through her tears, out of the corner of her eye, she spotted the old family Bible. She took the abandoned Bible off the shelf and carefully wiped the dust from it. Slowly flipping through the forgotten pages, a small blank note card fell out. Using the note card, in her best handwriting, she wrote to her eldest daughter:
“You’ll probably need this
more then me.”
After placing the note card back in the Bible, and she put it in the box next to the pink quilt she had made for baby Christie.
. . . . .
Many years later Barb went to check the mail and to her surprise a package had arrived. As she opened the package, tears began to stream down her wrinkled face. Inside the package she found a picture of Christie’s new little girl wrapped in the quilt Barb had made. Under the picture she found a note:
“Dear Grandma,
Thank you for the time you spent on my baby quilt.
I know it must have taken hours to sew.
We took fine care of it through the years and now
My daughter enjoys it very much.
I wanted to tell you that every time I look at
The quilt, I am reminded of just how much God loves us.
How much care he took to make each and every one of us and
How precious we are to HIM.
Each stitch in the quilt is like our lives.
Each event – carefully stitched with love.
Guiding us closer to HIM.

As Barb peered further into the package, she found the familiar old family Bible. As she lifted it out of the box, a note fell out. In her own handwriting it said:
“You’ll probably need this
more then me.”
Then in Christie's handwriting she read…
“Jesus loves you! He stitched you together perfectly!
I hope you will cherish HIM the way HE cherishes you!
Love,
Christie"
Barb sat down in her rocker in disbelief and did something she had not done in 50 years.
She started to pray:
“God are you there?”
