In Paul's letter to Timothy in 2nd Timothy 2:15, he admonishes us through the church to "study to show ourselves approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." We have to read in order to study; and what better thing to study than the unadulterated word of God. In the Bible, the word of God edifies us and equips us for a victorious life in Christ.
Jesus read the faces of both His disciples and adversaries and knew their thoughts. He teaches us in His dealings with people whom He encountered that we should be aware of our environment at all times. This feat can be accomplished by 'reading' where we are.
When we read, we fill our minds and souls. There is a myriad of thoughts that permeate and percolate in our mind as we assess the information gleaned from an article or any other material.
Reading provides 'food for thought.' We can ingest, contemplate and digest the words in order to be guided in the way to go. We are enabled to make informed decisions and not decisions from a position of ignorance. It also satiates our hunger for knowledge and acts as a means of relaxation.
Reading takes many forms which includes the indepth observation of a person, place or situation. There is a higher form of perception at work in the mind of someone who is 'reading.' Many criimes have been solved by persons who 'read' the evidence that has been left by the perpetrator.
This writer has observed the level of concentration of some readers and is convinced that it sustains memory and maintains focus. A child who learns to read has a longer attention span because he or she is engrossed in an enjoyable activity.
So, as we read, the 'imprints' of history, present happenings and sense future victories; we need to remember that 'all thinfgs are possible to them that believe.' We can do all thinmgs through Christ who strengthens us. If God be for us, who can be against us? Then, read on beloved and live an informed, fruitful and blessed life in God.
