Topic: Doctor/Nurse (11/02/06)
We are a society inundated with health specialists. It is hard to find a General Practitioner. If we are fortunate enough to have a “family doctor” more than likely a visit for anything more than the common cold will lead us to a “specialist”. Although inconvenient, this may be a good thing as the medical world makes such rapid improvements in medicines and techniques, it would be hard for one person to keep up to date in everything.
Yet even with all the Specialist, it seems more and more people spend more and more time and money only to talk of no remedy for their illnesses. Which makes one ask the same question that Jeremiah asked many, many, years ago: Is there no Balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is not the health of the daughter of my people recovered? Jeremiah 8:13 KJV Of course, Jeremiah was not referring to the physical health of the people, but to their spiritual health.
Isn’t it good to know that there is a Specialist, a Great Physician, who is knowledgeable in all areas of practice? This Doctor knows us intimately, so there is no need to fill out those annoying family history forms. He has already put a plan in place, paying the ultimate price for our healing so there’s no need to worry about the hassles of insurance. No appointment is needed. He is available day or night and house calls are His trademark.
The strange thing about this Health Provider—He loves to hear from us even when we are well. He considers us His children. He wants us to come to Him with all of our scrapped knees, our weary minds and our broken hearts. He is our Father, our Comforter, our Savior.
Yes, Jeremiah, there is a Balm, there is a Physician –a peaceful, sweet Heavenly Father waiting to take us in His arms and soothe the hurts and brokenness of life. Be it physical, emotional or spiritual, He is a specialist in all fields. He is waiting for us to come. He can give us comfort, healing and joy that passeth all understanding. He can give us a new heart and a new life-- an eternal life, if we will but submit to His loving care.

I loved this article! Your contrast/comparison between earthly physicians and "The Great Physician" was spot on!

I especially liked the sentences about how He knows us so we don't need to "fill out those annoying family history forms" and that we don't need insurance or an appointment with Him, and that He WANTS to see us when we are well. So true and well said!

Now just a couple of little pointers: If you put a space between your paragraphs it makes it easier to read. And I would have made a new paragraph for your excellent section that starts with
"Isn't it good to know"
