Weekends, holidays, and summers off!
Requirements
Must be willing to:
—Multitask
—Be underpaid and underappreciated
—Give your all to do what is best for those under your management (and receive little to no respect or support)
—Have a firm hand but loving heart
—Be cried on, pawed, coughed on, sneezed on, puked on, yelled at, ignored, and disrespected
—Love the unlovely, embrace the smelly, and cherish the crass and obnoxious
—Counsel those under your management and carry home their worries and concerns, allowing their emotional baggage to become your own
—Ensure that the mental and emotional needs of your subordinates are being met in full at all times
—Diffuse feelings of fear and shock when spotted outside your workplace by your subordinates, as they believe you live in the locked closet behind your desk
—Bear great responsibility with joy and enthusiasm, as you are responsible for
1. Shaping the mind and character of each individual under your management
2. Identifying each person’s weaknesses and developing creative strategies to overcome them and build confidence
3. Identifying each person’s strengths and talents and encouraging them further
—Forego instant gratification
—Have your hard work and skills judged by unfair standards
IMPORTANT NOTE: You will be responsible for shaping the future of each person under your command. This job is not for the faint of heart. Though its requirements are extensive, they pale in comparison to the rewards—those moments in which concepts are understood and retained, when projects are completed properly and enthusiastically, and when you behold joy and confidence beaming in the eyes of each person as he or she realizes their capabilities and potential.
