Topic: Garden (09/07/06)
Today is September 11th, 2006 and our daughter Emma now is 7
On this day more than any other I remember "that day" again, and again
That awful day when my husband went into the World Trade Center tower
Along with many firemen, it would be his finest and final hour

Sitting in the flower garden this morning, hurting and remembering
I still have this habit of grabbing my left hand, touching my ring
My daughter just ran out here to see where I was and to comfort me
Emma's been such a blessing these past 5 years--she's my Sweet Pea

After we hugged and cried we finally went to the memorial service
I just thought, I need to be here, every year, and never miss this
I turned to Emma and told her again how much her daddy loved her
Her tears fell from her face on to his face...just a picture

Tears of sadness mixed with tears of joy as Emma stood when her daddy's name was read--
I'm just thankful: This is another sunny September 11th morning that I will never forget

God bless you and yours if this is true (and even if it's not!) I was a bit confused as to wether or not Emma's birthday was on 9/11, too? This is short and deep.

Your writing is richened by your own experience, or if not yours, of those who still grieve. My son is a fire fighter on our local volunteer force, I can feel the sadness. God bless and keep writing.
