The tree tops blew with the silence, their music barely heard with their height of towering delight. The leaves touched each other with soft brushing strokes the whistle and swish leaving a refrain of beauty.
Looking up I can imagine them looking down on me and the wonderment of my eyes, knowing they have been there since the first brush of heat from the spring sun, changing their flowering buds to veins of beating life. Here I stand above their life pulsing nourishment unheard but seen. I crunch upon past brothers where they now vibrant green will soon flutter down in a cascade of color like the musicians crescendo. Left to brown and become the crunch I now hear. The tones of my walking with the winds quiet whistle gives the forest a melody that resembles a haunting refrain.
The trees grouped together create a darkness I long to escape. I must go back to the sun drenched hill leaving the music of the dark forest at my back and realize like the leaves on a tree I long to be reborn. Surrounded by life’s music once again leaving my sadness behind and let the past become the vibrations of the drums rage and now look to the future trill of the piccolo and start my life anew.
It’s been two years since Taylor died of SIDS at my house. The memory like the melody of life is never far away. When I stand on his grave I realize the chords never change, that day cannot be rewrote. Life is a melody haunting or vibrant quiet or loud enchanting or soothing. You choose what to do with the chords of your life rather to make a song or to make a noise clashing and clawing destroying your peace.
The beat of life like the melody of a song is orchestrated by God. I long for him. To be surrounded by him. To echo his melody forever life is so precious and so unknown, whether in your sleep you will take your last breath or leave this earth in a fiery clash of metal.
What I do know is God is forever, and forever will be everything to me.
