14“Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross ;”….( KJV),
When, a sudden insight into the above scripture dawned on me, using the scenario of an encounter of a “lost but found” daughter of God, this last week!
Felicia had a terrible foundation which had affected every aspect of her life from childhood!
It is true after all, that she hasn’t any fault to be born into such a family lineage of hers, but simply as the scriptures says,
in Psalm 11:3,
3 “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do”? (KJV).
She was a victim of multiple sexual harassments, incest, and rejection, which led her into doing drugs and prostitution.
Although, she grew up in the church, as a member of the junior choir, while living with her grandma, yet, the moment she moved in with her Uncle in the big city so as to continue her education, her spiritual fervency faded out and everything changed.
This was further aggravated by the news of her mother’s admission into the sanatorium as a permanent resident!
She had many questions none of her friends could answer and as such became moody too.
Her uncle further compounded her worries, by committing incest with her on a number of occasions, while her boy friend likewise ditched her after succeeding in drugging her, he raped her a couple of times, till she was left bleeding.
All these misfortunes steadily got her drifting far away from the Lord, as she believed herself to have degenerated to the level of being unpardonable and beyond redemption.
I met with her during a prison ministry visit to the correctional facility for women, where she was serving three out of a five years sentence for drug trafficking.
We got talking after a heated argument on “the validity of God’s power to save!” had ensued among her fellow inmates.
She then threw this question at me, “why does God allow those who love Him to suffer from cradle to grave, without His intervention”?
At the end of the discussion, the Spirit of God, using the scriptures;
Psalm 11:3,
If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? (KJV)
and Galatians 3:13-14,
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. (KJV).
convicted the hearts of five beautiful souls, including Felicia, surrendered their lives and reconciled with the Lord Jesus Christ.
For, they found salvation and peace with God from that afternoon.
These virtues had eluded them all their lives, because of ignorance about living a life of grace purchased for them at the cross.
Evidently, Felicia had been living in her mother’s footstep, because her mother had lived a similar pattern, so also their great grandmother.
This made her understand that, her problem was hereditary, but now, she is free by the Word, and delivered by the power of He that died, a shameful death on the cross from all the ancient vicious cycle which was against her!
