Who lives inside a flat.
I wonder how he gets inside.
Can you imagine that?
Perhaps there’s ceiling and a floor—
What’s flat is ground below,
Or maybe sky rests on the roof.
I’m sure I wouldn’t know.
I thought that flats were low-heeled shoes
Or Utah’s salty beaches
Or canvas backdrop scenery
For actors making speeches.
I pondered “flat” as adjective,
Its varied implications,
From feet without their arches
To tires less inflations.
Flat paint is minus any sheen.
Flat Cokes lack effervescence.
Flat rates are unconditional.
Flat lines show missing essence.
Flat stew is minus flavoring,
Flat voice, some animation.
Flat roofs do not have peaks at all
Or other elevation.
Flat characters are boring ones.
Flat broke’s no fun to be.
I’d never be a member of
Flat Earth Society.
But back to chap from Liverpool
Who lives inside a flat.
Do you know how he gets inside?
I can’t imagine that.
