Watching my “grands” as they play house,
One is the woman, the other her spouse.
“You be the dad, I’ll be the mom!”
So much to learn before they are grown.

But will the ever learn
What true love is all about?
How God’s love for them
Should be mirrored in a spouse;
One God, one bride,
One man and wife,
Committed, faithful, enduring…
For life.

This world will try to tell them
That “love” is going to come and go,
That nothing lasts forever, whatever,
And no-one really wants it so.

That anyone can play “married”
‘Cause it’s just a frame of mind,
Two men, two women, two strangers,
Then turn and leave each other behind.

But how will they ever learn
What true love is all about?
How God’s love for them
Should be mirrored in a spouse;
One God, one bride,
One man and wife,
Committed, faithful, enduring…
For life.

And when I think about it,
It makes me want to cry,
To see friends trading in their hearts
Every time they buy this lie.

They have given up “forever”
To grasp what they find today,
Not knowing the true value
Of what they threw away.

Oh, will they ever learn
What true love is all about?
How God’s love for them
Can be mirrored in a spouse.
One God, one bride,
One man and his wife,
Committed, faithful, enduring…

For God so loved the world
He gave His only Son
To pay for the bride,
And to cover what she had done.
One Son, one bride,
Forever at His side..
Committed, faithful, enduring..

For life.
