"To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech." (Proverbs 08:13)

If you reverence the Lord, if you take seriously your relationship with the Lord, then you will love the things the Lord loves (like people), and you will hate the things the Lord hates (like sin). Some of the things the Lord hates are admired by the secular culture, things like pride and arrogance. When I was growing up I was taught that pride was a virtue. It isn't, it is a curse! Likewise, pride's close friend, arrogance, is another manifestation of the same disease, and both are cured the same way--by humbling yourself. Pride and arrogance are somewhat socially acceptable, although in the Lord's view they are still sin. At the other end of the scale evil behavior and perverse speech are more symptoms of a lost life. As the Lord's child you will want to put pride, arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech out of you life. Your life will be better for doing so, and you will be blessed!
