If there was another definition of love it would be 'duty.' When you make it your duty, when it becomes a part of you to act. Any other form of love is irrelevant and ungodly or selfish, an act of self love. Evil and hatred is not a way or a path it is a lack of path. An evil act is a process without a future, as in eating junk food. It makes sense that in a universe run by logic, good would be defined as events that move forward and evil as events that move backward. It is therefore evil to eat food without trying to nourish yourself. If you had a problem and you spoke angrily at this hurdle, it would be called an evil act because energy is being expended but nothing is being moved forward. It is not good to waste mental, physical or spiritual energy. Wasting spiritual energy is defined as worshiping idols, because they have no mental, physical or spiritual consequence. Note that worshiping an idol may make you feel better as with all substance abuse but this is only because of energy loss. We should not do things that result in less energy, that is the path of death.
What is our duty to God, or how do we love God? This is a hard question to understand because the answer is incredibly simple. Our only duty is to be who we are and not move against ourselves. Then, God will do his duty that is to us. So now the only question would be, what are we and who is God; we need to know this to define our form of love and duty. There is a way a man loves his wife, there is a way a woman loves her children, there is a way siblings love; there is a way one loves a neighbor, there is a way one loves a leader, there is a way one loves a friend, there is a way one loves God, anything else would be blasphemy. This is because our understanding and our love to others is synonymous with our understanding and love for God. Whatever we do to the least of God's people we do unto him, and misappropriating our duty to God is to misappropriate the name of God. Seeing that we treat others based on the way we perceive them, that is to say based on the name we call them. To mistreat God is to misappropriate the name of God, which is the true definition of blasphemy. Duty is at the right hand of purpose; and purpose is intentional movement, that is to say, your duty depends on what is needed, seeing that it is part of you to act and there is no such thing as a negative action (a lack of action leads to negativity because the universe is always moving forward so there is no space for anyone to stand still.)
It is God's love towards us, no one else will take up this duty. God's purpose is to fulfill our necessity, fulfilling need is the only natural duty. There is a difference between how we treat people we love and what we expect from people who claim to love us. It is okay to request something from someone who claims to love you, that is to say, it is okay to ask God for miracles or other resolutions. I don't think anyone has a problem asking people who claim to love them for stuff, well some humble people might. So if you are humble and you hear someone claiming to love you don't be scared to call their bluff. As in saying, if you love me do something positive for me, if you have in fact taken on that duty and purpose, intentionally. How do we treat someone that we love, what is our duty toward them? According to the Bible, God has given us talents and he requests them back with interest or we shall be cast "into outer darkness," if we are found to be "unprofitable" servants. How do we treat a being that we claim to love? Well seeing that love is defined as duty and duty needs a purpose; logically a purpose needs consequence, so then, what is the person whom we claim to love in need of. Does this person need hugs, kisses, food, procreation, water, punishment, guidance, a help mate, a friend, a savior, medicine, forgiveness, clothing, healing prayer, repentance, safety, adoption,...
God has set his laws as a guidance for all of humanity or those who will hear his voice. But, those who cannot hear his voice are not doomed, God winks at their ignorance, but that also means those people will also live as if God does not see them. This is why the devil seems to have almost free reign in Muslim or atheist countries, also a great number of African countries that are Catholic, because they have openly admitted they do not believe in God's word. It is not a safe thing to ignore God's law, there are two ways to know God's law, draw nigh to him or separate and live in the devil's world. Both could lead an honest person straight back to God. Once you understand that God has a duty toward us, then it is easier to understand the importance of taking God's law seriously. Maybe the first thing a Christian should ask when they meet another who claims Christianity is whether they are a Christian who believes God's law is a law of love and should be followed. There is a different between someone who is Christian because they think Jesus was a nice guy, and someone who is Christian because they understand God's love.
Once we have set our path to a godly one, once we recognize God's law of love which is a result of his duty towards us, our new duty is to tell others. Many atheists will say religion is good as long as you keep it to yourself. But they are our enemies and we are happy to be against them. So we cannot keep the truth of God's love to ourselves, isn't that what makes it true? People naturally share their pride with others and hide their embarrassment, is your God your pride or shame? It is interesting that Christians have a monopoly on the love of God. This is because when the devil invents a religion he would be unnecessarily burdening himself if he promised love to his Muslim, Buddhist, or pagan peoples. The love of God and how he shows his love through his law is the easiest way to explain to others who this God is.
