Marriage

I learned a new technique for wire,
to fasten two of them side by side,
it took three steps to get it done,
without a knot, together they were tied

It took a tiny little tube,
slid over both, making a loop at the end,
and then the tube was pressed down flat,
to get it ready to bend

The next step was to bend the flat tube
into the tiniest curved smile,
then once again it was pressed down tight,
the whole thing taking just a little while

And when it was done, the tiny tube
had with the wire become almost one
securely wrapped all round so tight,
captured forever, and the crimp was done

It reminded me of how God planned,
making the two of us into one,
put together side by side,
we knew Jesus bade us both to nearer come

Then He wrapped His love all around ours,
keeping us safe and true,
and pressed down, turned and pressed again,
secure in Him, we could say "I LOVE YOU!"

Every day it starts again,
a new time to become one anew
and each time we bend our will to His,
our love grows deeper and more true

What an adventure to spend each day,
not quite knowing what God will do,
but being right there, by your side,
my life's sheer joy because I LOVE YOU!!
