How great the Lord in all the world!
His Word runs swift and true;
His sovereign purposes unfurled;
His acts, His majesty, ours to view.
He numbers stars in heaven
And gives each one a name;
He covers the earth with clouds
And prepares the land for rain.
He makes the grass to grow on hills;
Earthworm is in His hire;
The frothy tempt-tossed sea He stills;
He sends the hail, He brings the fire!
The snow and frost are His to wield;
He casts forth icy cold;
Like wool it covers tree and field;
He makes the earth a frozen mold.
He fixes bounds for the seas,
Limits which can not be passed;
He turns the wind from gentle breeze
To hurricane at last.
Monsters deep praise His name;
Children learn His story;
Young men and maidens each proclaim
His wonders and His glory!
He fills us all with finest wheat;
He sends the April shower;
He gives us heaven's bread to eat;
The earth reveals His power.
He holds the nations in His hand,
Making peace within our borders,
Holding sway in every land,
Each king awaits His orders.
In all the world, how great the Lord!
His Word controlling all;
And cutting like a two-edged sword,
Can you resist His call?
