Perhaps we are sent down this road
For a purpose we do not understand
Perhaps to strengthen our faith
To let god be in command

Far too often we take control
We know the right paths to take
We rush to make our dreams come true
But consult God after it’s too late

For we are God’s children
So surely we should know
We are made in His likeness
So we think we know the better way to go

We do not sop and pray
Or consult God and His plan
We fret and worry ourselves sick
And then wonder where’s God’s hand?

We have shut Him out of our lives
For we know the better way
When it comes to a screeching halt
We beg and plead our souls to save

His loving hand reaches down
And guides us back to His path
He never taunts our mistakes
And is gentle with Hs wrath

For He came to love and to save
Not to conquer and oppress
Let Him lead you and guide you
Never expect anything less

There is wealth and fortune
He has laid up for you in heaven
He will never leave or forsake you
And all your sins he has forgiven

So look at this trial as just
A planned detour in life’s road
For God will always help you
Carry life’s load.
