I appreciate joy! It’s one of the fruits of the Spirit that well... makes me joyous. I like it when other people bring me joy. Doing nice things for me, serving me in little ways, caring for me even though they don’t have to.

I think a big part of the Christian life is supposed to be about joy. It’s easy to sit back and want others to cause joy in your life. In-fact it’s not only easy, it’s selfish. We are put here on this earth to cause joy in others by doing things for them. Ministering to them, serving them, loving them. If you are concerned with the lack of joy in your own life try causing some joy in someone else.

That is what Ministry is all about. Causing joy in somebody's life by meeting their needs. Ministry is never about you, it is about the person you are ministering to. When ministry becomes about you its time to throw in the towel, find a quite corner to contemplate life, and ask God to get you heart right.

So why is ministry important? If life is going to have a purpose higher than pleasing ourselves, if we were created to reflect the image of God, and if we are challenged to live like Christ then Ministry is where it’s at. Ministry is getting involved in something bigger than you and spreading the infinite joy of God to those who need it badly. Can you think of someone who needs the joy of God to fill their lives?
