Encouragement
Today I heard a really incredible song on the radio called "Pierced". I have heard this song before, but do not know who sings or wrote it. Its a really beautiful song, some of the verse goes like this-
"Though I am wounded, and unworthy,
I am selfish, and untrue.
But you are Holy, You're the Healer
You forgave me, and made me new!"
For some reason those words really got to me, because of all He did for us, even in our sinfulness and selfishness. we are not worthy of Gods love, even those who believe. But yet, we are His "treasures".
Everyone knows that yes, God sent His son to die for us, but He did more than that. He set us free from sin, and from ourselves! When we accept Him as our saviour He takes over and makes us new :)
Its funny, a friend of mine and I were praying together tonight and when she prayed she thanked God for being in control of her life, because in her words, if she had to be in control she would "totally suck at it!!". I had to laugh, but who else can "run" our lives but Him? Who else knows us well enough.
The chorus of that song says-"take me, Lord, Jesus, break me Lord Jesus, make me Lord Jesus, I am pierced."
The singer wants Jesus to break him, not smash and injure him, but to break his spirit to become more like Gods, the Holy Spirit. He is basically asking God to make him holy.
The more "broken" we become, the more the Lord can do in our lives.
I think in this day in age when people are so callous and careless, and nuetral, we sometimes need to break down crying out of revelation for all the Lord has done for us, starting with "Jesus being pierced for us".
I know this old woman who loves the Lord, and she isn't always delicate how she words things. SO we were praying as a group one day and she said-"Jesus, I want to thank you for getting BEATEN up for me!!" At first I wanted to say "Evelyn, that isn't very nice!" but that IS exaclty what happened, and it was very mature of her to say that as it is. He got beaten up for us or as Isaiah says-"wounded for our transgression.".
DEAR JESUS-
THANK YOU FOR BEING PIERCED FOR ME. YOUR BLOOD AND WATER FLOWS TO WASH AND MAKE US NEW. I DON'T DERSERVE LIFE BUT THE FATHER LOVES US ALL ENOUGH TO GIVE US ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH YOU. BREAK ME, TAKE ME AND MAKE ME INTO YOUR LIKENESS. HELP ME TO REALISE HOW WONDERFUL YOU ARE AND HOW GREAT, SO GREAT YOUR LOVE US FOR US.
IN JESUS NAME
