Encouragement
Most times when we decide not to worry, we find ourselves dabble into the very act unconsciously. The big question then is when we realize that we have “done against ourselves” what do we do? The problem is that the things we worry most are trivial in nature that they don’t deserve such amount of energy, time and effort accorded to it. And when we realize that we have engaged in futile venture we begin to regret for the amount of time, effort, and resources that have wasted in the process.
So how do we overcome the attitude of worrying? The word of God has been a solace to us and it gives us a vivid reason why we should not worry. Matt 6:25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on … 27 And which of you by being anxious can add one cubit to his span of life?” That is to tell us that worrying is a futile exercise which must be stopped by all means. According to …………. Worry is a rocking chair which keeps you busy but never take you anywhere, instead it dissipate your energy.
We need to understand the personality and the capability of the one who love us that He gave us all He has. St Paul noted well: If God did not spare his only son for our sake what is it He can not do for us? He is the Almighty God, He is the Creator, The Deliverer, He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He repeatedly assures us not to worry. He is there with us as we pass through waters, He ensures that the rivers of life do no overflow us. He keeps us safe as we walk through the fire of life so that it will not burn us neither will He allow the flame of the enemies to kindle upon us.
When there is need to worry, only remember you disobeying God who has told you not to worry. Learn to be calm in the face of urgent situation by taking deep breath, focus on him who has power to deliver, to solve whatever problem there may be. Try to be attentive to hear his gentle voice within your mind as He give you immediate direction. Do not mix His voice with your mind so that you will not make mistake as you step out to action.
Bear in mind that worry, anxiety can be temporary madness which can make one make rash decision or take rash action which is always regretted in future. So learn to soft-pedal, stripe yourself of all power within you and fling yourself at the feet of Him who can strengthen you to do all things. It is then you will realize that worry has short life span.
