I walked inside feeling sad and blue
I made my way to the very last pew
With head held down from all my shame
I pressed my way to church just the same
I looked and observed all the faces around
some fill with joy while others wore frowns
So unworthy to be amongst God’s holy Saints
I sat there nervous trying hard not to faint
I did not know what I was expected to do
I was in an environment I wasn’t used to
There was singing, clapping, stomping feet
The music I knew had a whole different beat
Folks were shouting out…Thank you Lord!
As their voices rang out on one accord
A man stepped to the mic and said a prayer
asking the Lord to bless all who were there
I wondered if I could ever be changed,
And have my life become rearranged
But something inside kept tugging at me
It told me that I could never be free
Then suddenly I saw the preacher man
he walked to the pulpit then took his stand
He told us all how Jesus Christ came
to erase all our burdens, sorrows and pain
He got so excited, started to shout & dance
I was truly mesmerized as I sat in a trance
I made my way coming every Sunday
to hear what this great man of God had to say
I learned of God’s mercy and grace
and how to thank Him for the sins he erased
I entered each Sunday with praise on my tongue
giving honor to God for victory won
But the more I grew, the more wrong I saw
in the church that I thought was without flaw
After years of service with fellow Saints
I found that some Saints were simply aint’s
Instead of compassion like Jesus above
the aint’s were lacking in the department of love
If some people in church got you feeling blue
remember it’s God who truly loves you
Continue to go and worship there
God will separate the wheat from the tare
