My heart is breaking into tiny little pieces. It’s nobody’s fault. Not really. But I can’t help but be burdened when I see how evil the world has come to be. Murder, sexual immorality, hatred for one another…that’s all I see. They say they love…but I cannot see it. How can I? Their love is so superficial. Mere touches and physical contact can never describe love. And you know what else? Even murderers and homosexuals are using God’s Name to convince themselves and others that they’re right.

But how can that be so? God is against homosexuality. It is one of the earliest sins he condemns. Remember Sodom and Gomorrah? The people had become so evil, so completely perverted that the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. Besides, one of the earliest laws that the Lord God gave Israel was: “If any man is caught having sexual relations with another man, both of them must be put to death.” Also: “If any woman dresses like a man or any man dresses like a woman, they must be put to death (sic)” Go and open the book of Deuteronomy and read each and every of those laws if you do not believe me.

In any case, we have established that God hates homosexuality. But what about the homosexuals? I believe God loves them. He loves them as he loves me, once the worst of sinners, yet still he reached out and saved me. God loves Israel too, but because of their detestable practices, He had to punish them. But God wants them to repent, to leave their lives of sin. It’s the same with the homosexuals, the murderers, the thieves…God wants them to leave their wicked ways. But never once did He leave them because in their darkest hours, even when they couldn’t see Him, He was there. He waits and is faithful. And when they come to realize this and repent, like the father in the Prodigal Son, God will welcome them with open arms. There is no doubt about that.

What hurts me most is that rather than show God as the loving yet just Father that He is, many have claimed that God is “okay” with homosexuality. So-called Christians have stepped forward and claimed that ‘homosexuality’ (note: not the person, but the act itself) should be ‘accepted.’ These “Christians”, who are famous by worldly standards, have even gone as far as to promote books and talks on homosexuality. God’s standards have been compromised…by His people no less.

I am not saying that these Christians are not true Christians. I simply believe that they have made a terrible mistake because they do not seek God. They have forgotten the Bible, God’s commandments, and have become religiously ignorant. All they know is that “God is good.” They’ve forgotten that “God is holy.”

But I know with all my heart that homosexuality can be battled by the person experiencing it. It is not natural. It is a makeshift love. Compare homosexuality and adultery. In both cases, people find themselves “in love” with someone that they cannot have. Many families have been broken because of adultery…but many others have remained intact because they said ‘no.’ Can one say ‘no’ to homosexuality? Of course! God gave us a brain, not just a heart, to think. And if we truly loved a person, truly truly loved a person, we would rather sacrifice physical and emotional pleasure than cause that person to sin.

Yes, we can always reason that, “Despite my being like this, God still loves me.” But let’s ask ourselves, “Do I love God enough to change?”
