Thanks For The Reminder
Bound by sin
No hope without Christ
The path I chose
Was taking my life
I believed the lies of satan
Thinking his way was better
With no thought of change
I lived sin t the letter
I danced with the wicked
On my way to hell
The road was full of pleasure
How was I to tell?
That there was more
Available from the King
By shaking off chains of bondage
My heart could truly sing
Confess your sins to the master
I heard the words preached
If I only believe I’ll be saved
It was simple and within reach
So I ran to the altar
And cried out in pain
Lord cover me in your blood
Remove all the stains
The chains of bondage fell from me
A new name had been written down
All my sins had been forgotten
Someday I’d wear a crown
But soon the enemy of my soul
Presented the details of my life
So I began to question
Could I really be free of sin and strife?
I had visited the depths of hell
In the twisted life of sin
Held tight in the grip of tyranny
Would it ever really end?
Then I found the passage
It stood out on the page
I didn’t have to listen
To the enemy in his rage
There is therefore no condemnation
To them that are in Christ
So I picked myself up
And shook off the lies
I looked the enemy in the eyes
The one who hated my soul
Commanded him to flee from me
Cause someday I will walk on gold
And take his army of militants
Who wage war on my mind
I’m going forward with Jesus
And never looking behind
Toady he still does battle
Attempting to remind me of my sin
But I’ve learned a little technique
That brings it all to an end
Thanks for the reminder
I boldly proclaim
God delivered me from bondage
I’ll never be the same
Thanks for the reminder
By His blood I’m purified
Had it not been for Jesus
In sin I would have died
Thanks for the reminder
That I’ve been adopted by the King
And because of His deliverance
My heart & soul truly sing
Thanks for the reminder
That in your grip I no longer abide
But in the shadow of the almighty
I take refuge and can hide
Thanks for the reminder
Of where Christ has brought me from
It’s because of His love and mercy
His daughter I’ve become!
There is therefore now no condemnation to them, which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit
Romans 8:1
