Prophecy

“They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

As I was driving home today from having lunch with a friend from my church, the Lord so astounded me with what happened next. Because my friend and I had been discussing the prophetic ministry, etc., I was now praying in regards to this as I drove along. As is my custom when I talk to the Lord while driving, I keep one eye on the road and one eye looking upward toward the sky because I don’t want to miss anything He would choose to open my eyes to see. Today was no different in this respect.

THE HAWK/EAGLE APPEARS:

As I continued to talk to the Lord and looked toward the sky, suddenly there appeared a hawk. The hawk is of the eagle family. I feel I must carefully explain how I saw this hawk/eagle because of the way it just appeared in my line of vision. Seeing the hawk/eagle wasn’t what took me by surprise because the Lord has used hawks to speak to me either about prophets or the prophetic ministry, both personally and corporately for the body of Christ several times before.

Always before when the Lord would draw my attention to a hawk/eagle, I would see it fly into my view from one or the other direction, east, west, north or south. But not this time. It came from no specific direction. It was just suddenly there in front of my eyes. It’s sudden appearance so caught me by surprise that I stopped praying and just looked at the hawk that really looked more like an eagle.

I’ve seen fair sized hawks before but this one was bigger than most. It was the biggest hawk I’ve ever seen. What made me think that it might be an eagle was the fact that it had a longer wing span than most hawks I’d seen before. But regardless of which it truly was, here I am trying to keep my eyes on the road as well as keep them on the hawk/eagle in front of me.

It was flying just right at tree-top level or a little lower. I couldn’t help but notice how it reminded me of a plane flying too low. I also noticed how it was flapping its long wings at this low level of flight so laboriously. Plus, the whole time I observed this hawk/eagle, it stayed in the same place flapping its wings. It never flew any higher than when it first appeared, though it seemed to be trying awfully hard to do so. It wasn’t long before the Lord began to speak about some things relating to the hawk/eagle and its level of flight. After the Lord stopped speaking, as God almighty is my witness; the hawk/eagle disappeared from my sight. I did not see it fly off in any direction. It was just suddenly gone.

FLAPPING THE WINGS:
========================
When the Lord began to speak, He spoke about prophets, prophetic people and certain aspects of the prophetic ministry that are trying to fly too low to the earth. Trying to operate in the supernatural things of the Holy Spirit through earthly, man-made methods that barely get off the ground. They’re depending more on head knowledge than Spirit-revelation.

Flying too low to the ground speaks of the earth from which man is man from, “dust of the earth.” It speaks of the fleshly part of man that is hard at work (flapping the wings) trying to make things of his own plan and will to “fly.” (If I can work a little harder to get the attendance up at church, if we can work harder to gather enough money to build that new wing to our teaching complex, etc. If I can work harder to pass the muster with Apostle or Prophet so and so, so I’ll be accepted into the prophetic loop, etc.) All the minister or ministry ends up doing is flapping their wings in human effort and never truly going anywhere that is higher in the Spirit.

The Lord said, these prophets, prophetic people and ministries are still earth bound. They haven’t, as of yet, learned how to fly and soar as the eagle He’s called them to be. But in this hour, He’s calling for those certain one’s to join and begin soaring with those Eagles already free and in flight.

CEASE FLAPPING AND MOUNT UP TO THE SON:
=============================================
The Lord said, this is not a day for His people to be ‘flapping’ (working their own works) but of mounting up close to the Son to become a co-laborer in His work. It’s a day to come into the glory of Jesus through worship and adoring Him at His feet in the servant hood of a son (daughter).

There is now a stirring of the Spirit, the Lord said, to rouse this handful (God has a big hand) of prophets, prophetic people and ministries out of their comfort zones of familiarity to take hold of with Him in His purposes and plans for establishing His Kingdom rule in the earth. There is a thrusting out of the nest, as it were, so that the up drafting wind of the Spirit can lift and carry them to the place of their calling. A few have reached this place of high calling but many are struggling (flapping the wings, working hard in human effort) to get there.

What is this place of high calling? (Phil.3:14-15). It is the glory realm where abides the awesome Lord God almighty Who is beckoning to one and all through His love to come. Feel the drawing of His love, hear His tender voice calling for a people who will stop working so hard in self-effort for self-glory and come into His presence and experience the real glory of the only one, Jesus, who is glorious and worthy of all praise and honor.

The Lord said, that for these ministers and ministries, mounting up close to the Son is being in and knowing your covenant with Him. As you move more into the glory realm, you would be empowered to operate in the earth by the supernatural flowing of the Holy Spirit. You wouldn’t be trying to operate in the Spirit by man’s natural means. But rather, you would be moving by the glory so that what you do for the Kingdom of God is done from a position of covenant and intimate fellowship with Jesus.

“But you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all of Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

It would mean, carrying out your God-given assignments in the earth from a ‘position of rest.’ When God finished His work of creation in 6 days, on the 7th day, He rested from His labor. In the NT Jesus finished His work on the cross and on the 3rd day, He arose from the grave and entered into His rest at the right hand of the Father where He ever lives to make intercession for us. The Church is in the 3rd day now. Not only is it a time of worship and warfare, but its also a time of ‘rest’ for the ‘battle is the Lord’s.’ Our position of rest is in worship and co-laborship with Jesus.

Matt.11:28-30, “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you REST.
29-Take My yoke upon you (co-labor, partnership); for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall have REST for your souls (mind, will, emotions).
30-For My yoke is easy, and My burden light.”

1 Cor.3:9, “For we are laborers together with God: you are God’s husbandry (garden), you are God’s building.”

Resting means, that you’ve given up struggling and you’re now soaring. It means, resting in faith and trust in God, receiving His plans and agenda’s because they’re not heavy and the burden of the Lord is not grievous. When you’re in intimate fellowship with Jesus, when you’ve mounted up close to the Son in worship and the sacrificial giving of yourself to him, when you’re allowing the wind of the Spirit to carry you in the will of almighty God, you’re now in that place of REST. You’re soaring.

FOREST OF TREES:
=======================
An eagle is said to have very keen vision and can see from great distances beyond him. When they’re seeing those great distances, its because they’re soaring up high. Not when they’re close to the ground. Can they see close to the ground? Of course, they can but even more clearly when they’re mounted up close to the sun/Son where they can see things from a heavenly view. This is the view that God is calling His prophets, prophetic/ministries to have.

As I watched this hawk/eagle continue to flap its wings so hard to get lift off to go higher, the Lord talked about some of His prophets, prophetic people and ministries being so earth bound that they weren’t able to see the forest for the trees. Yet, they tried to prophesy as one who saw from great distances in the spirit realm but only saw, as it were, as high as the trees. Which meant, they were short-sighted and were seeing very little.

He said, that it was only when His servants left that place of self-protection, self-trust, self-glory, fear and comfortableness and began to soar with Him above the heights of the mountains that they would not only be able to see the trees clearly but also see the whole forest and be able to differentiate (discern) between the two (light, dark, good, evil, Holy Spirit, evil spirit) and know what to do (worship, intercession, warfare).

SUMMING IT ALL UP:
=========================
It seems that we all have a few things to do who are in ministry, regardless of whether its prophetic, or evangelistic. But when you shake it all up, everything having to do with Jesus and His ministry is prophetic in nature.

So, lets begin summing up the Lord’s words by remembering what the mother of Jesus told the servants when they were at the wedding feast in Cana and the host ran out of wine. She said to the servants, “Whatever He tells you---do it!”

Whatever God is speaking to you about in your season, whatever He’s asking you to do, when you begin to soar with Him in that place of rest, what He tells you won’t be confusing like when you’re so close to the ground. You won’t be wondering around lost in the forest thats like a maze. A place where you can so easily be swallowed up and where it affords no real direction in the paths of righteousness.

You can be subjected to evil through “what's in it for me” people and ministries who only use people like paper towels and then toss them aside when they’re of no more use. You can be lead astray from the will and purpose for your life by self-serving people who proclaim to be of superior knowledge and revelation. People who demand religious performance out of you apart from what the Holy Spirit has implanted in you. This is not that place of rest where you’ve become un-earth bound and you’ve mounted up close to the Son and you’re soaring. You’re trapped and held fast to the earth.

Many of God’s eagles and prophetic people/ministries are still earth bound and flying so low to the earth because of fear. Fear of failure or the fear of man, etc. Or it can be because there are stronger ties holding us to the earth. These unholy ties can be stronger than our ties holding us to Jesus. If this is the case, then we need to ‘cut loose’ those ties that bind so that we can get into the Holy Spirit’s thermal (the anointing) updraft and be carried to co-labor with Jesus and rest in His power.

God wants to give us sharp “eyes” to see, keen “ears” (spiritual) to hear, and a tender “heart” to know Him so that we can impart compassion to others and all that He shares of Himself with each of us. Thus, the call of the Lord is now being heard from all over to “Come up higher” (Rev.4:1). May we each answer that call of His Spirit because being so earth bound, flying so low to the ground makes you dull in discernment. You’re not able to see, as it were, the forest for the trees. Therefore, let us all mount up close to the Son, in that place of intimacy and rest in Him where we truly begin soaring in the power of His Spirit.
